In honour of what is probably the largest amount of words wasted in blogistan by blurker extraordinaire Ayan - in my comment box no less - I shall update.
Yesterday I was driving the UAE's sand sprinkled roads. It was dark and shiny, the way The Big City gets at night. I was enjoying the quiet, cruising along at unholy speeds, when I came to the Trade Centre Roundabout intersection (not the roundabout itself, nay, but the junction right off it). Once there, what did mine eye spy? *cue dramatic music*
Any guesses. It's late night in Dubai. Come on, have a go. Maybe there were crazy kids doing stunts on midget bikes, you think? Clowned up streetwalkers trying to blend into the palm trees? A drunk expat doing a soulful rendition of God Save the Queen?
Nope.
In this lonely desert crossroads I saw..... a duck.
Yep. A mallard to be precise. Waddling across the intersection. Jaywalking if you will, which is a bit disloyal of it, as jays are another kind of bird and a duck should be duckwalking if anything. But it was. A duck.
There you are.
